Facebook Messenger on iOS has its own set of emoji, different from the emoji you’re used to seeing in standard iOS apps, such as Messages. If you don’t like the look of the Messenger emoji, you can switch to iOS’ default emoji instead.
To switch to the system emoji in Messenger (shown on the right above), you need to change a setting in the Messenger app, not the iOS system settings. So first, open Messenger.
01_tapping_messenger
At the bottom of the screen, tap the “Me” icon.
02_tapping_me
Then, tap “Photos, Videos & Emoji”.
03_photos_videos_and_emoji
When the “Messenger Emoji” slider button is on (green), you’ll see Messenger’s version of the emoji.
04_messenger_emoji_on
Tap on the “Messenger Emoji” slider button to go back to the system emoji. The slider button turns white when it’s off.

The change doesn’t happen immediately. You must force quit Messenger and then open it again. All the emoji become the system emoji, as well as any new emoji you send or receive from now on.

This setting only affects what you see on your device. It does not affect what the person on the other end sees on their device. This trick is only for your personal preference if you hate the look of the Facebook Messenger’s emoji.

If an app doesn’t show up on your home screen, you may have just uninstalled it. But if a pre-bundled app has gone missing, there could be a few causes. Here’s how you can restore any default apps that are missing from your device.

First of all, if an app appears to be missing from your home screens, make sure you haven’t tucked them away inside a folder. In situations like this, the solution is often the most obvious one.
However, if you’ve searched high and low and can’t find it, there may be something else at play. There are a few different kinds of apps on your phone, and they can all go missing for different reasons.

Anything outlined in red cannot be removed.
  • Third-party apps are apps you downloaded from the App Store, that did not come with your phone. If they’re missing, you may have uninstalled them without realizing it. In some cases, a third-party app can go missing for other reasons, though, in which case you can uninstall it using then reinstall it from the App Store.
  • First-party removable apps are apps that come with your iPhone that you can remove from your home screen, as long as you’re running iOS 10. Just like any other app, you can press and hold on it and tap the X to make it disappear. This includes Calculator,  Music, Calendar, News, Compass, Notes, Contacts, Podcasts, FaceTime, Reminders, Find My Friends, Stocks, Home, Tips, iBooks, Videos, iCloud Drive, Voice Memos, iTunes Store, Watch, Mail, Weather, and Maps. If one of these apps is missing, you can just search for it in the App Store and reinstall it.
  • First-party non-removable apps include the App Store, Health, Photos, Settings, Phone, Safari, Messages, Camera, Clock, Activity, Find iPhone, and Wallet. These apps come with your iPhone, and you cannot remove them from your home screen (except in some cases, like work phones, where an administrator can remove them). If one of these apps goes missing, it’s likely because one of them got flipped in the “Restrictions” section, designed for parents to block certain features from their kids.
The first two categories are simple: if an app goes missing, just reinstall it from the App Store. But what if a non-App Store app, or even the App Store itself, goes missing? This third category is trickier one, that we’ll be dealing with today.
To check if Restrictions are the culprit, first tap open the Settings, then tap “General” and then “Restrictions”.
Enter the passcode to access the Restrictions. If you don’t know what the passcode is, then you’ll need to obtain it from whomever set it up in the first place.
Once you’ve accessed the Restrictions, you can see what has been turned off. For example, here we see that Safari, Camera, FaceTime, the iTunes Store, and Podcasts have been disabled.
Take note, if you’re missing the App Store, then it’s because “Installing Apps” has been disabled. If you can’t delete apps from your Home screens, then “Deleting Apps” has been disabled, and of course, if you can’t complete in-app purchases, that option has been turned off.
If any of these are restricted and shouldn’t be, just flip the switch back. Once you do this, those apps should reappear on your home screen.
Note, however, that only Safari, Camera, FaceTime, and the App Store can be restricted (Podcasts can be restricted and uninstalled). If you’re missing one of the other first-party, non-removable apps, some other error is at play. You could try restoring your home screen layout, but you may have to go nuclear and erase your iPhone completely, and restore it to factory settings.
Most people probably already know how to move the cursor on their iPhone or iPad. It’s essential if you make a typo and want to go back to correct your mistake before you send a text or e-mail, but there is an easier way.
Traditionally, on any iPhone preceding the 6S, the only way to move your cursor’s insertion point is to use the magnifying glass. This is accomplished by touching your finger to the screen and holding it there until the magnifying glass appears. Then you just move the magnifying glass until your cursor is at the spot where you want to fix your mistake.
2016-11-15_10h17_46VoPCMp
This method isn’t bad, necessarily, but it can be a little awkward and inexact.
If you have an iPhone 6S or later with 3D Touch, then you’re in luck, because there’s a much better way. Instead of touching the screen until the magnifying glass appears, you can instead deep press on the keyboard until the keys blank out and then it basically works like a touchpad. You just keep pressing and then slide your finger to the desired insertion point.
fVPT2u
The difference between the two may be only a second or two at best, but the 3D Touch feels much more natural and exact. Best of all, you don’t have to take your fingers off the keyboard, so corrections can be completed in a more fluid, uninterrupted style
If you are using iTunes and listening to music from it, then probably you may have bought some of the tracks from the store or subscribed the Apple Music service. Modern versions of Android have a Storage pane that will show you exactly what is taking up storage on your device. To find this, open the Settings screen and tap Storage. You can see how much space is used up by apps and their data, by pictures and videos, audio files, downloads, cached data, and miscellaneous other files.
Tap an option here to see exactly what’s using up space and delete it. For example, you could tap Apps to see a list of apps using up the most space and remove them. Tap downloads to view your downloads list where you can remove files and tap cached data to clear the data of all installed apps. Use the other options to view which files are taking up space and remove the ones you don’t want.
Screenshot_20160928-095219Screenshot_20160928-095230
When dealing with apps, bear in mind that the app itself, its data, and its cache all add up to the total space used by the app. For example, if you have Spotify installed and you’ve cached lots of music offline, Spotify may be using over 1 GB of space. You could clear Spotify’s cache to forcibly remove this all, or launch the Spotify app and tell it to cache less data for offline listening. Any app that caches data for offline use will function like this. In the screenshot below, Google Play Music is only 40.66 MB in size on its own, but it’s storing 2.24 GB of cached music.
You can see how much space an app is using for those data files and remove the cached data for an individual app by tapping it in the Apps list, accessible by tapping Apps on the storage pane or by tapping Apps on the main Settings screen.

See Which Folders and Files Are Taking Up the Most Space

Android’s built-in tool is helpful for visualizing the space used by different types of data, but not the exact amount of space used by individual folders and files. For this, you’ll need a third-party app like the excellent and free DiskUsage. Install it from Google Play, launch it, and you can scan your device’s file system.
Use the visualization to see which folders and files are taking up the most space. You can delete them right from within the Disk Usage app to free up space. For example, you might see a leftover folder from a game or app you’ve uninstalled. That app should have removed that data, but you can do it by hand with this app. Select a folder or file, tap the menu button, and tap Delete to remove it.
Screenshot_20160928-100158 Screenshot_20160928-100151
Bear in mind that you could delete files that apps depend on here. Don’t delete data belonging to an app unless you’re willing to lose that data. In many cases, the data should be synced online in some way and you should just be able to re-download the data if you need it.

Add an SD Card and Move Data There

IMG_9711
Many Android devices still ship with microSD card slots, although they are becoming less and less common on newer devices. If your phone or tablet does have a microSD card slot, you can purchase a microSD card and insert it into your device to gain more storage. The storage you gain can hold music, videos, pictures, and other media files–and, in some cases, even apps (see the next section). Some apps may allow you to move their cache locations to the SD card, too.
If your device already has an SD card, this is a good option if you want more storage. MicroSD cards are fairly cheap, so you can upgrade and get a lot more storage for a fairly low price. A quick look at Amazonshows 32 GB cards for $10 and 64 GB cards for $19.
After installing the SD card, format it as portable or internal storage (if your phone has Android 6.0 Marshmallow), then connect your device to your computer and move your music, media, and other files to the SD card’s free space.

Move Apps to the SD Card

Depending on your phone and version of Android, you can also move apps to the SD card to free up space.
Android Marshmallow users can do this by formatting the SD card as internal storage. Then, the SD card will be seen as local storage on that device. The system will determine which apps make the most sense to move to the SD card, then go ahead and move them over. You can’t discern between true internal storage and an SD card formatted for internal use, so there’s now way to manually move individual apps over. (You also won’t be able to move the SD card between devices anymore, unless you erase and re-format it.)
